The organic craze is a new trend that is sweeping the nation- and its difficult to understand if this label is valuable information to you. With different nutritional sources telling you conflicting ideas about what is healthy and what isn’t, it’s easy to have confusion about what makes the healthiest product and if it’s worth the extra cost. What is Organic Food?

The “Organic” label refers to specific conditions to how the agriculture was grown and processed. Farmers have restrictions on what pesticide and fertilizers she or he can use, as well as using genetically modified ingredients. (GMOs).

GMOs have been linked to increased food allergens and gastro-intestinal problems in humans. Many people think that altering the DNA of a plant or animal can also increase the chances of developing cancer. However, so far research into the link between GMOs and serious disease has proven inconclusive.

 

How can our ingredients possibly be Organic? Aren’t they artificially made?

No, our Organic ingredients are not artificially made but are made with organic whole fruits and vegetables which is extracted using different techniques depending on which product you want. The end result is an organic ingredient. Our new Grand Valley Organics brand will be all plant-based including inulin fiber, erythritol, pea protein and fiber, rice protein, and stevia.

 

Why is organic food often more expensive?

Unfortunately, the food that used to be the most natural is now the more expensive than its counterpart.
